Synthite Group founder and senior industrialist CV Jacob passed away on Sunday. He is 88 years old.

Jacob is a director of Cochin International Airport Co., Ltd. (CIAL) and vice chairman of the Spice Committee. According to reports, he died on Sunday at his residence near Kolenchery.

In addition to his four daughters, the 88-year-old also left behind his wife and two sons-Synthite Industries Private Ltd. Managing Director Dr. Viju Jacob and Director (Strategic Operations) Aju Jacob.

Founded in 1972, Synthite is an oleoresin extraction company. It is the world's largest producer of value-added spice extracts and natural spice powders, operating in the food seasoning, real estate, wind energy and hotel industries. They provide raw materials for foods, aromas and flavors from all over the world.

The group has an annual turnover of Rs 1,600 crore and has a portfolio of more than 500 products derived from fragrance oleoresins, essential oils, natural food colorings and functional food ingredients. It has also established a Synthite Taste Park in Pangode near Kolenchery. Private industrial park.

CV Jacob was born in 1933 and began his career in cardamom trading and auctions in 1950. A year later, at the age of 16, he started to engage in the family business of civil engineering contracts. He specializes in tunnels and bridges.

Later, he set foot in the industrial manufacturing field through Arborites (P) Ltd in 1965 to manufacture urea-formaldehyde resins. In 1967, he established Slabs and Aggregates-a fully mechanized quarry and granite crushing device, which was the first such crushing device in Kerala.

Jacob was involved in the perfume oleoresin industry and established Synthite Industrial Chemicals (P) Ltd. Now it was renamed Synthite Industries Ltd perfume oleoresin in 1972.

Synthetic stones now account for nearly half of India’s spice oleoresin exports, equivalent to 30% of world demand.

The funeral will be held on Monday.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed condolences for Jacob's death.
